Attendees receive "green" education at sustainable energy panel

Our recent panel discussion entitled "Energy Solutions for a Sustainable World" was a successful and enjoyable evening!

A big thank you goes out to our very knowledgeable panelists, and also to all those who were in the audience for this wonderfully informative event.

More than 75 community members attended the panel discussion, which offered information on several "green" sustainability solutions including:

  • Geothermal energy
  • Wind energy
  • Green construction
  • Solar photovoltaic systems
  • Transportation and alternative/renewable fuel systems

The Panel was the result of efforts by Washtenaw Community College's Sustainability Literacy Task Force (SLTF), a multi-disciplinary committee of WCC instructors whose passion is to educate people about the benefits of sustainability and using the planet's resources wisely.

The WCC faculty who are members of the SLTF are Dale Petty (Industrial Technology), Emily Thompson Ph. D. (Biology and Environmental Science), Maryam Barrie (English), Chef Alice Gannon-Boss (Culinary Arts), and David Mackres (Anthropology).
