Art in the Park, Summer Concerts in Canton and More This Week

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Plymouth and Canton.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Plymouth and Canton to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Need to know

Thousands of people from around Metro Detroit and beyond will descend on downtown Plymouth this weekend for one of the largest art festivals in Michigan. More than 400 artists representing 30 states will be showing and selling their creations to more than 300,000 attendees. In addition to art, there are attractions for children and adults, including live music, a children's interactive mural and a chalk mural on the intersection of Main and Penniman.

    2. Local voice of the weekJim Salamay kicks off a new blog on Patch all about Plymouth history. His first post is about the little-known history of what seems like just another home in a Plymouth neighborhood.

    3. At the Plymouth District Library
    On Wednesday at 7 p.m., sculptor and Detroit native, Larry Halbert, will tell of the 
    process he is using as he creates the nine life-sized sculptures that will be a
    part of the Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial.   

    4. For your entertainmentIf you're hungry for some outdoor music this week, look no further than Canton. There are three concerts in the township: The Backyard Beats Concert Series hits the Pickwick Village neighborhood on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with The Fun GuysMotor City Soul will be at Heritage Park for the Thursday Night Concert Series at 7:30 p.m.; and the Color Tour Concert Series will be hosted at Willow Creek Shopping Center (home of PetSmart and Michael's on Ford Road), welcoming The Brothers Groove on Friday at 7 p.m.

    5. Save the DateThis annual vintage car, motorcycle and music show will be held in Plymouth's Old Village on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., giving entertainment-seekers an alternative to Art in the Park this weekend.
