Good Morning USA Parade, Jazz Music, Plus More Tips for the Week Ahead

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Plymouth and Canton.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Plymouth and Canton to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

  • Good Morning USA Parade

Thousands of people will line Main Street Thursday morning to watch the Annual Good Morning USA parade. The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will travel down Main Street from Theodore to Hartsough. The parade theme this year will be "Salute the Troops" featuring veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and others.  Fred Hill, the parade organizer, describes the parade as a “Variety Show In Motion” and promises you and the kids will not be bored.  (Click here for more information).

      3. At the Library
      • Make it with Duct Tape at the Plymouth District Library
      Bring your talent and ideas to this fun d.i.y. program for students in middle school and up on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The library will supply all kinds of duct tape, though probably not enough to make a prom dress or tuxedo. Register by calling 734-453-0750, x 4. Refreshments provided. (Click here for more information

      4. For your entertainment
      • Canton Color Tour Jazz Series
      These free concerts will take place in the parking lots of various shopping centers in the color blocks along Canton's Ford Road. Bring your lawn chair and get ready to sit back and enjoy! Friday's location: Willow Creek Shopping Center, located int the Blue Block on Ford between Lilly & Haggerty. The Brothers Groove will perform. (Click here for more information).

      5. Save the DateJuly 12,13 and 14 in downtown Plymouth. A signature Michigan event, Art In The Park, now in its 34th year will welcome over 400 artists from around the U.S. offering paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber, glass, woodwork, photography, folk art and much more.
