Plymouth Historical Museum Revives 'A Red Ryder Christmas Story' and More This Week

Here are four events to help fuel your week in Plymouth and Canton.

If you need a boost as we head into November, the Plymouth-Canton Patch calendar is filled with interesting and helpful events.

Here are just a few to brighten your week:

1. Spotlight Players Auditions

The Spotlight Players will hold auditions for "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change," on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m., auditions begin at 7 p.m. Casting will vary, but the group is looking for at least four men and four women. All must be able to sing and dance. Actors are asked to sing 16 bars from a song from this show, or 16 bars of another musical production. An accompanist will be provided. For more audition information, visit www.SpotlightPlayersMI.org

2. Stuff the Truck Diaper Drive

The Canton Public Library will host a Diaper Drive on Nov. 20 and Nov. 21. The library is counting on the generous members of the Canton community, and surrounding Metro Detroit communities, to contribute to the biggest diaper drive in Michigan. Last year, the library collected 38,954 diapers in two days and hopes to beat that total in 2013.

3. Ladies Shopping Night

Come get a head start on your Holiday Shopping at Red Bell Preschool on Thursday night. There will be items from Spa Agio, Stella and Dot, Origami Owl, Rodan and Fields, 31 bags, Reclaimed Purses by Jimmi Hicks, Tastefully Simple, Scentsy and many more.

4. "A Red Ryder Christmas Story" Exhibit

Come celebrate the holidays at the Plymouth Historical Museum with the new exhibit “A Red Ryder Christmas Story” which opens Friday. This fun-filled exhibit is based on the beloved Christmas movie, A Christmas Story. The Museum will be filled with vignettes of scenes from the movie, including the infamous leg lamp and Flick’s tongue getting stuck to the lamp pole. Since Red Ryder BB guns were originally sold by Daisy Manufacturing Company of Plymouth, the story of Ralphie’s quest for this particular BB gun is significant to Plymouth’s history.
