Railroad Crossing Quiet Zones, Tree Lighting and More This Week

Here are four events to help fuel your week in Plymouth and Canton.

If you need a boost as we head into November, the Plymouth-Canton Patch calendar is filled with interesting and helpful events.

Here are just a few to brighten your week:

1. Railroad Crossings Quiet Zones Meeting

On Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Plymouth City Hall, there will be a meeting about stopping the train horns (Quiet Zones). To respectfully demonstrate your support, attend the meeting and share your thoughts at citizen-comment time.

2. Selecting the Right Tablet Device

It’s that time of the year again – and you’re thinking about purchasing a tablet device as either a gift for a special person, or even treating yourself!  How do you decide which one is the best for you?  Kathy Petlewski, Electronic Resources Librarian, will explain the differences between the various devices (iPad, Kindle Fire, Android, others) and their operating systems, pros and cons of each, and provide you with a checklist of things to look for in a tablet, depending on its intended use. Sign-up by phone at 734.453.0750, ext. 4, or online.

3. Canton Tree Lighting

Canton Leisure Services' 35th Annual Tree Lighting kicks off the township's holiday season with music, family friendly activities inside and out, refreshments, crafts for kids. Santa Claus will light the tree before heading to a comfy chair and chats with children. Festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. Wednesday, outside the Summit on the Park.

4. "A Red Ryder Christmas Story" Exhibit

Come celebrate the holidays at the Plymouth Historical Museum with the new exhibit “A Red Ryder Christmas Story.” Hours of operation are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children (6-17).
