Corn Roast, Superman and More This Weekend

Patch is here to make your life ridiculously easy, so as you sit down today and plan your weekend, here are five events you should know about in the Plymouth-Canton area.

1. Music in the Air: Magic Bus

• When: Friday, 7 p.m.
• Where: Kellogg Park, downtown Plymouth
• What: Think Woodstock! Get to Kellogg Park early to set up your blankets and chairs.

2. "Man of Steel" at the Penn Theatre

• When: Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday  and Sunday, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
• Where: Penn Theatre, 760 Penn Ave., Plymouth
• What: A young itinerant worker is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when Earth is invaded by members of his race. 

3. Canton Lions Club Corn Roast

• When: Saturday, Aug. 24, 11 a.m.
• Where: Ridge Road, south of Cherry Hill Road at the red barn
• What: Canton Lions Club will hold its annual corn roast on Saturday. Corn is roasted slowly after soaking in water the night before and served with hot dogs, baked beans, ice cream, snow cones cotton candy and watermelon all for a $5 donation. There will be a raffle with two cash prizes. First place: $500; Second place: $200; Third place: Gift Certificate for $100 from N. A. Mans Lumber. So stop by and get your raffle ticket for $5. and take a chance and you may be the winner.
  

4. Mom 2 Mom Sale

• When: Saturday, Aug. 24, 1-4 p.m.
• Where: Connection Church, 3855 S. Sheldon Rd., Canton
• What: The Connection Church in Canton will host a Mom 2 Mom Sale on Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. There will be more than 100 tables with gently used children's clothes, shoes, toys, strollers, infant care equipment, maternity clothes and other items. Admission is $2 before 9:30 a.m. and $1 after. 

5. High Velocity Sports Open House

• When: Saturday, Aug. 24, 1 p.m.
• Where: 46245 Michigan Ave., Canton
• What: Come try a Free Sports Clinic at High Velocity Sports on Saturday from 1-3 pm and use the Inflatable Fun Zone! Classes are for ages 18 months-14 years old and include Lil' Kickers Soccer, Ballers Basketball, Sports Sampler, and Hurricanes Volleyball Training.
