Movie Recounts JFK Assassination and More This Weekend

1. "A Red Ryder Christmas Story" Exhibit

  • When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
  • Where: Plymouth Historical Museum, 155 S Main St, Plymouth
  • What: Celebrate the holidays at the Plymouth Historical Museum with the new exhibit “A Red Ryder Christmas Story." This fun-filled exhibit is based on the beloved Christmas movie, A Christmas Story. The Museum will be filled with vignettes of scenes from the movie, including the infamous leg lamp and Flick’s tongue getting stuck to the lamp pole. Since Red Ryder BB guns were originally sold by Daisy Manufacturing Company of Plymouth, the story of Ralphie’s quest for this particular BB gun is significant to Plymouth’s history.

2. "Parkland" at The Penn

  • When: Friday, Saturday, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.; Sunday, 4:45 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Where: Penn Theatre, 760 Penniman Ave., Plymouth
  • What: A recounting of the chaotic events that occurred at Dallas' Parkland Hospital on the day U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Rated PG-13.

3. Walking for Wellness

  • When: Saturday, 9 a.m.
  • Where: Heritage Park, Canton
  • What: IHA invites individuals and families to walk on Saturday. The walk will be led by IHA physician Dr. Theresa Poppe and will include a brief presentation on preventive health tips and a three-mile group walk. Please meet at the Clock Tower, parking in any of the nearby public lots.

4. Canton Pre-Thanksgiving Harvest Market

  • When: Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine
  • Where: Cady-BoyerBarn in Preservation Park, 500 N. Ridge Rd.
  • What: This special Market will feature an assortment of Michigan-harvested produce in addition to specialty products made by local vendors. Pick up items for your Thanksgiving meal including: farm eggs, honey, sauerkraut, popcorn for popping, artisan cheese, sour cream coffee cakes & muffins with cinnamon & pecans, gluten free baking mixes, baked goods (including gluten-free, vegan & sugar-free), jam, fudge, cinnamon honey baked almonds & pecans, granola, kettle corn, blended teas, apples, cider, apple butter, fudge, barbecue and pasta sauces, mustards, salad dressings, marinades, artisan cheese and bread, hormone and anti-biotic free meats, turkeys and more.
