Farmington Murder Victim's Funeral Arrangements Pending, Service Planned in Plymouth

Date and time of Kaitlin Hehir's funeral have not been set, according to a Plymouth funeral home website.

Funeral services for Plymouth native Kaitlin E. Hehir, 29, whose body was found Saturday in her Farmington home, will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth. According to an obituary published Monday on the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home website, a date and time for the service has not yet been determined. Visitation dates and times at the funeral home have also not been finalized.  Kaitlin is survived by her parents, Joseph, Jr. and Mary Hehir; her brother, Brian; and grandmother Regina LaPorte. She is also survived her dog, Rose. Her grandparents Joseph and Doris Hehir preceded her in death.  Authorities expect Hehir's boyfriend to be arraigned Tuesday on charges connected to her death. Legendary Detroit Weatherman Sonny Eliot Dies in Farmington Hills Home

TV pioneer Eliot, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Farmington Hills.

Detroit's beloved weatherman, Sonny Eliot, passed away in his Farmington Hills home Friday. He was 91. The Dorfman Chapel in Farmington Hills is handling funeral arrangements, which are pending. Known for his sunny disposition and his rapid-fire quips, Eliot had a 60-year career in Detroit broadcasting and was a pioneering TV personality. Eliot joined the staff of WWJ-TV (now WDIV) after World War II and stayed there for 35 years. He was a weatherman, host of the annual Thanksgiving Day parade broadcast and hosted an "At the Zoo" series. After TV, he kept the fun going on WWJ radio (950 AM). He was born Marvin Schlossberg on Dec. 5, 1920, in Detroit. Eliot was also a veteran of World War II, according the The Michigan Compainion book, and …

Longtime Philanthropist Nancy Spencer Dies

Longtime community philanthropist known for work with Goodfellows died Friday.

Nancy Spencer, a longtime philanthropist in the Canton community, died Friday after battling a long illness, the Canton Observer reported. Spencer died with her husband, John, of nearly 45 years by her side, the report said. The couple's 45th anniversary would have been Sunday. Spencer was perhaps best known in the community for her work as Canton Goodfellows president for more than 20 years, which helped raise money for Christmas gifts for children in need, the report said.  According to an email from the Canton Chamber of Commerce, there will be visitation from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-8 p.m. Friday with Rosary at 7 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Red Wings Announcer Budd Lynch Remembered as Compassionate Family Man

He may have raised his voice during a game, but never at his Wyandotte home, his daughter said.

“Growing old is a privilege.” That was a saying Budd Lynch used to repeat. It's also one that he lived by. A memorial Mass was held Saturday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church for the longtime Red Wings announcer and Wyandotte resident who died Tuesday. Lynch's grandson, Joe Schimizzi, quoted his grandfather's phrase during the packed service in front of fans and loved ones.  He also spoke of the time he unwittingly became Lynch and his late wife Thelma’s designated driver one St. Patrick’s Day after an invitation to go to the Red Wings game with them.  Often seen around Wyandotte, Lynch would always stop and chat about hockey, or golf, or whatever was going on at that time.  His daughter, Mary, said she never remembered her dad yelling…

Memorial Service Today for Kenda Jones, Popular Tonda Elementary Parapro

Kenda Jones went from being an active mother of two Tonda students to working for Plymouth-Canton Community Schools as a paraprofessional.
