Canton Hockey Players' Assist Goes Beyond the Stat Sheet
Chiefs spend three hours packing more than 2,400 pounds of food while donating time to Gleaners Food Bank.
Canton High School's hockey team will accumulate more than 100 assists this season, but none will be more meaningful or noble than the help the Chiefs registered Tuesday morning for the Gleaners Food Bank. Three days after Christmas, the Chiefs shifted into giving mode when they traveled to Pontiac and helped pack seven pallets of food for Gleaners Food Bank. Since it was founded 33 years ago, Gleaners has helped distribute more than 36 million pounds of food to needy people throughout southeast Michigan.
