The credit union held a chili cook off to raise the funds on Oct. 21.
The chili was cooking early with Community Financial Credit Union team members decked out in Michigan State University and University of Michigan gear recently, but it wasn’t for a football game, it was to raise money and food donations. The annual Community Financial chili cook off on Oct. 21 raised almost $2,000, which will be donated, along with the collected canned goods, to local food pantries. Nine different batches of chili were served up by team members and judged by co-workers and local community leaders. Team members also showed off their preference for the Spartans or Wolverines prior to the big rivalry game scheduled for the next day. Community Financial Credit Union announced Tuesday that 2011 was a record year for growth in member satisfaction ratings and number of members. The credit union, with branches in Plymouth, Canton, Northville, Novi, Gaylord, Hillman and Lewiston, saw a record near 10-percent increase in membership in 2011, according to a press release. It also saw its highest all-time member satisfaction rating.
