Relaxed Gun Law Doesn't Sit Well with Local Officials
Bill would allow holders of concealed weapons permits to bring guns to schools, day care centers.
State legislation headed to Gov. Rick Snyder's desk allowing people with concealed weapons permits to bring guns into schools, churches, stadiums, day care centers and other venues that currently prohibit such weapons is failing to generate support from some local officials, according to the Plymouth Observer. Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Superintendent Jeremy Hughes told the Observer on Friday that it was "hard to process" that lawmakers would support such legislation the same morning an elementary school shooting in Newtown, CT, that killed at least 27 people, including 20 young students.
