Group founded at Plymouth's Liberty Street Brewing Company samples, critiques members' brews.
Something is brewing within the confines of Old Village's Liberty Street Brewing Company, and it's not just the latest suds on tap at the Plymouth microbrewery. The Sons of Liberty Homebrew Club has provided aspiring brewers a place to sample and critique members' homebrewed beers since its founding in the brewery's basement in the summer of 2010. The club, which meets monthly—often at Liberty Street and sometimes at members' homes or other nearby businesses—has a simple mission for its approximately 30 members. "We're a club about the enjoyment of brewing and tasting beer," member Harry Jachym of Plymouth said. Old Village brewery part of NFL stadium's Michigan Craft House with regional beer selections.
Fans of Plymouth's Liberty Street Brewing Company can now get a taste of home when they go to Ford Field in Detroit for Lions home games. According to owner Joe Walters, Liberty Street Brewing Company now has its beer on tap at Ford Field's Michigan Craft House, a new concession area opened in October that exclusively sells beers from Michigan breweries, including Short's, Bell's, New Holland, Founder's and Atwater. Liberty Street Brewing Company's Steamy Windows, a California common ale, is on tap at the stadium, Walters said. Bill Zolkowski adds Bill's Beer Garden alongside Mark's Carts in Ann Arbor.
Retired Plymouth-Canton Educational Park principal Bill Zolkowski started his newest venture this week in Ann Arbor. Zolkowski opened Bill's Beer Garden this week, operating four nights a week through Dec. 2 in the parking lot of Downtown Home & Garden on South Ashley in Ann Arbor, according to the Detroit Free Press. According to the report, Zolkowski operates the beer garden with garden shop owner Mark Hodesh, who operates the Mark's Carts courtyard in the area. Patrons can bring food from the nearby food carts in the courtyard to the beer garden, the report said. Zolkowski's beer garden will offer 10 craft beers, plus wine and soft drinks.
