Police: Three teens were charged with Minor in Possession (MIP) after a breathalyzer confirmed the consumption of alcohol.
Canton Police were dispatched to a complaint of a loud party with possible underage drinking on the 45000 block of Larchmont, according to a police report. Police found a group of teen-aged boys and girls in front of the house, but when they asked who lived at the address, the group quickly went inside and closed the front door. Police asked the teens to get a resident through the door, according to the report. Beer cans littered the front porch and officers smelled marijuana at the home, the report said. Police: Copper was stolen from local properties in two separate incidents this past week.
Hundreds of pounds of copper wire stolen Haggerty Metal Company in Plymouth Township reported that someone stole 700 pounds of copper wire on May 10, according to a police report. The yard manager told police that surveillance footage showed a suspect entering from the north side of the yard, going to the bin on the south side of the building and making repeated trips carrying a few rolls of copper wire at a time, the report said. According to the report, the suspect spent an hour and a half making seven trips. Police: Man said he was swerving on the road because he was texting on his cell phone.
On May 8, Canton Police arrested a man on charges of crack cocaine possession, drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs during a traffic stop after noticing the man swerving in and out of lanes, according to a police report. Police observed the driver swerve onto the shoulder, then back into traffic, taking up both lanes on Westbound Michigan Avenue, the report said. The man told police that he was on his way to his girlfriend's house in Ypsilanti and was swerving because he was texting on his phone. Police: A Canton man reported a case of check fraud, but did not wish to prosecute the suspect.
On May 5, a Canton man reported an incident of check fraud at the Canton Township Police Department, according to a police report. The man told police that he became aware of two fraudulent checks being submitted towards his personal checking account in March. The man said that the checks were the two that were stolen out of his car in early 2011, the report said. The man provided police with copies of the checks from his bank, with both checks dated in January 2011, though the year was visibly changed to 2013. Both checks were made in the amount of $3,179, the report said. Police: A driver struck the rear end of a semi trailer at Haggerty and Michigan Avenue in Canton while trying to change lanes Sunday morning.
A 23-year-old Belleville man was flown to the University of Michigan hospital by a survival flight after striking the rear end of a semi trailer on Sunday morning, according to a police report. The man, facing serious injuries, was pinned in his Ford F-150 pick-up truck and had to be extracted by Canton firefighters, the report said. Witnesses told police that the man was heading east on Michigan Avenue at Haggerty Road when he attempted to change lanes and struck the rear end of a semi trailer, the report said. Canton Police responded to a larceny at the Rusty Nail Lounge on Ford Road, according to a police report. The business owner told police that he discovered several bottles of alcohol missing while doing inventory on April 25, the report said. The owner told police that he suspected a new employee that left work during his second shift without telling anybody, the report said. The employee told police that he quit during his second shift because he didn't like the type of work and said he didn't tell his boss because he wasn't there. Man discovers several credit card applications in his name On April 16, a man reported that an unknown supect attempted to open several credit cards in his name at Kohl's, Office Depot and USAA, according to a police report. The man told police that he received a letter from Kohl's Fraud Department on April 16. Police: Minor tried to purchase alcohol at Emagine Canton Theatre on Ford Road.
Canton police responded April 28 to a call of a minor misrepresenting his age at the Emagine Canton Theatre on Ford Road, according to a police report. A theater employee working at the cocktail stand told police the minor attempted to order alcohol, but she thought the ID was fake and told the minor she had to call the police, the report said. The employee watched the minor walk into Theater 10, and she then escorted police into the theater to point out the minor, the report said. Police asked the minor about his fake ID, and he told them he got it from another guy. Police: Herriman & Associates on Wilcox Road has had multiple thefts during the night.
Plymouth Township Police responded to a larceny at Herriman & Associates on Wilcox Road on April 9, according to a police report. The company has been a victim of multiple larcenies and the building is under construction. Multiple tools have been stolen, along with six feet of scrap steel beams and 25 feet of copper piping in separate incidences. the report said. The most recent theft was a Milwaukee hand drill which was left on the property. The theft happened sometime between March 15 and March 25. Police: Man had been living in vacant home and was told to vacate the property.
Canton Police arrested a homeless man for unlawful entry after he was discovered living at a vacant house on the 46000 block of Cherry Hill Road on April 18, according to a police report. A neighbor told police that the man was living at the house for awhile and kept a bicycle at the house. Last week, officers told the man to vacate the house, the report said. On April 18, an officer saw a bicycle under some bushes on the west side of the house. The doors to the house were padlocked, but the rear window of the north side bedroom was broken out, the report said.
