Woman Killed in Rollover Accident at I-275, Michigan Avenue in Canton

Woman, 41, dies in Sunday accident that caused vehicle to roll onto its roof in creek.

A woman was killed early Sunday in an accident at Interstate 275 and Michigan Avenue in Canton, according to Canton public safety officials. According to a news release from the department, Canton fire crews responded at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday to a serious accident I-275 and Michigan Ave. to find a vehicle rolled over onto its roof, submerged in a creek. According to the news release, Canton's cold water rescue-trained firefighters and paramedica entered the water in wetsuits and forced their way into the vehicle, where they found an unresponsive 41-year-old woman. Crews retrieved the woman from the vehicle and began performing advanced life support procedures and transported the woman to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, the news …

Canton Man Dead Following Two-Car Crash

The area of Canton Center and Hanford roads was partially closed for several hours Thursday morning for an investigation of the accident.

A 41-year-old driver died in Canton Thursday morning after he apparently suffered a medical condition, crossed the center lane while southbound on Canton Center Road at Hanford Road and struck another vehicle, police Sgt. Pat Sullivan told the Canton Observer. The accident happened about 8 a.m. and stopped traffic, according to the article. Canton Police said Canton Center remained partially closed late Thursday morning.  The 41-year-old man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the article said. “We believe his death is due to a medical condition and not the accident,” Sullivan told the Observer. “We don’t believe speed was an issue, and we don’t believe alcohol was a factor with either driver.” Police had not released the…

This absolutely breaks my heart. I didn't know him like a lot of people did but he came to the gym almost every day and was one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! Canton Police Investigate 2 Morning Crashes

One killed in morning accident at Windsor Woods Apartments; Woman injured in accident at Michigan Avenue west of Canton Center Road.

Canton Township Police are investigating two accidents Wednesday, one of which was fatal. According to a news release, Canton police and fire responded at about 5 a.m. to a report of a single-car accident in the parking lot of Windsor Woods Apartments at Warren and Morton Taylor roads. Police found a car crashed into a parked vehicle at the apartment complex's parking area, the news release said. The driver, identified only as a 55-year-old man who lived in Canton, was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Police and firefighters responded at about 7:08 a.m. to a second crash on eastbound Michigan Avenue west of Canton Center Road, the news release said. Relatives Seek Jail Time in Double Fatality in Canton

Relatives look to impose jail sentence on driver in Canton crash that killed two Belleville teens.

Grieving relatives asked a 35th District Court judge Monday to hand down a prison sentence to a driver accused of ignoring a flashing red light in Canton, resulting in a two-car crash that killed passengers Brooke Kennedy, 18, and Danielle Beavers, 19, both of Belleville, according to the Canton Observer. The defense for driver Rufus Thomas Brandon II, 24, argued that Brandon shouldn't be jailed for a decision made while driving his Chevrolet Cavalier southbound through the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Belleville Road just after 2 a.m. on July 24. Contractor Run Over, Killed by Car While Working at Canton Condo

A 61-year-old man was fatally injured when an 81-year-old man ran over him as he was backing out of his garage.

A contractor is dead after being run over Friday morning by a vehicle at a Canton condominium complex. Canton Township Police responded at 10:37 a.m. to a 911 call from the area of Edington and Essex, where a man had been run over by a car, according to a news release from Canton Police.  The man, a 61-year-old contractor working at a condominium complex in the area, was struck by an 81-year-old resident who was backing out of his garage, the news release said.  Paramedics took the man to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the news release said. Canton Police have identified two victims in a fatal car crash Tuesday, the Canton Observer is reporting. Brooke Kennedy, 18, and Danielle Beavers, 19, both of Belleville, were identified as victims in the crash, the report said. The accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound Michigan Avenue at Canton Center/Belleville Road. Both women were passengers in a yellow Chevrolet Cavalier headed south on Canton Center Road when a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck the passenger side of the Cavalier. Canton Police Det. Sgt. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in an accident early Tuesday in Canton that killed two Belleville women, the Canton Observer is reporting.  Both women were passengers in a yellow Chevrolet Cavalier traveling southbound on Canton Center Road where it transitions to Belleville Road before being struck on the passenger side by a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling east on Michigan Avenue, the report said.  Canton Police Detective Sgt. 2 Women Killed in Accident at Michigan Avenue, Belleville Road in Canton

An accident this morning at Michigan Avenue and Belleville Road in Canton Township left two women dead, according to a report by WXYZ-TV. According to the report, a yellow Chevrolet Cavalier and white Chevrolet Monte Carlo collided about 2:10 a.m., killing two women traveling in the Cavalier. The intersection reopened at about 8 a.m., the report said. Family members told WXYZ-TV that 18-year-old Brooke Kennedy, a recent graduate of Belleville High School and employee at Ruby Tuesday in Canton, was one of the victims in the accident. Driver Killed in Accident at Beck and Five Mile

Alcohol not believed to be a factor in crash that killed 79-year-old South Lyon driver.

A 79-year-old driver was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident at Beck and Five Mile roads, according to a news release from the Plymouth Township Police Department. The accident occurred about 7:20 a.m. Monday, when a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by the 79-year-old victim, a South Lyon resident, collided with a tractor-trailer. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has not yet been identified, pending location and notification of family members. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 40-year-old Westland resident, was not injured in the accident. According to police, alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but the accident remains under investigation. Northville Township Police assisted at the scene.
