Cruz'n 528's last car show, 'Grease' casts announced, Patch photo contest.
The final Cruz'n 528 Car Show of 2011 is set for 5:30 to 8 tonight at the Mayflower/Lt. Gamble VFW Post 6695, 1426 S. Mill St. (Lilley Rd.), Plymouth. Proceeds from food and drink purchases support veteran relief programs run by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 528. Forever After Productions has just announced members of two complete casts for Grease, set to take the Village Theater at Cherry Hill stage on Jan. 27, 2012. Brandon Waldenmayer and Alex Armesto will alternate starring roles as Danny while Emily Gross and Alyssa Daly will take turns onstage as Sandy. Detroit Area Diaper Bank — Canton resident Marybeth Levine's charity to provide diapers to babies and seniors in low-income families — is entered in Citgo's "Fueling Good" campaign. Citgo will give gas cards to 24 charities, based on which ones get the most votes. Supporters can vote here once daily until August 11. Forever After Productions' The Wizard of Oz delights Village Theater at Cherry Hill audience.
Audience members of all ages packed into Village Theater at Cherry Hill's 400-seat auditorium to see Forever After Productions’ The Wizard of Oz. The youth theater group, just ending its second full year of performances, held auditions for the classic musical in February and ultimately cast 150 children as two separate casts appropriately titled "Emerald" and "Yellow." Sidney Hicks as Dorothy Gale led Friday’s performance by the Yellow cast. Her soulful soprano voice wowed the crowd as she opened with Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Musical clearly a hit for Canton-based Forever After Productions' show at Village Theater at Cherry Hill.
Opening night of Hairspray, at Village Theater at Cherry Hill, as staged by Canton-based Forever After Productions, was clearly a hit. The audience of nearly 400 started enthusiastic and remained so, giving a standing ovation to the cast's final bow. The actors, most of them teenagers, were both engaging and polished. In a show with so many young people, one expects a show stealer. On Friday, the packed house seemed to find several. Holly Platis, 17, of Canton, as Tracy Turnblad delivered a heartfelt yet playful turn as the chubby teen who just wants to join “the nicest kids” and star in a TV dance show. I quite liked the Nicest Kids performance. They all were diverse and hilarious. We can't forget Brenda though, "Nine Months!"   more ›
