Rick Snyder announced last week that he would put right-to-work on his agenda. Following Snyder's announcement, Republicans in the Legislature put bills forward in both houses, prompting protests in Lansing by union groups, including the UAW. More protests at the Capitol are expected Tuesday as the Legislature again takes up the proposed legislation. My father was an independent, non-union contractor. My husband worked for an independent non-union contractor. You can say what the rules are about voting 50% plus 1, but that isn't what goes on. Non-union companies get extreme pressure and threats from the unions. My father used to get "you won't even bid on this job if you know what's good for you" kind of threats.
