Craft Beer is King With Plymouth-Based Sons of Liberty Homebrew Club

Group founded at Plymouth's Liberty Street Brewing Company samples, critiques members' brews.

Something is brewing within the confines of Old Village's Liberty Street Brewing Company, and it's not just the latest suds on tap at the Plymouth microbrewery. The Sons of Liberty Homebrew Club has provided aspiring brewers a place to sample and critique members' homebrewed beers since its founding in the brewery's basement in the summer of 2010. The club, which meets monthly—often at Liberty Street and sometimes at members' homes or other nearby businesses—has a simple mission for its approximately 30 members. "We're a club about the enjoyment of brewing and tasting beer," member Harry Jachym of Plymouth said.  With Michigan-run craft breweries making a significant dent in the state's beer marketplace, Jachym said homebrewing has become …

Old Village brewery part of NFL stadium's Michigan Craft House with regional beer selections.

Fans of Plymouth's Liberty Street Brewing Company can now get a taste of home when they go to Ford Field in Detroit for Lions home games. Look Local for Last-Minute Gift Ideas

From snow sports to pet pampering, Plymouth offers plenty of creative solutions for procrastinators.

For shoppers scrambling for last-minute gift ideas, Plymouth merchants offer a wide array of solutions. Doug Fopma of Isabella's Copper Pot has several suggestions for those shopping for home and kitchen items. A slow juicer made by Huron, he says, is a popular choice this holiday. The device extracts juice from fruits and vegetables using a process that creates a higher-quality final product, he said. Another choice is the SodaStream soda maker. This accessory uses its included carbon dioxide tank and users' own tap water supply to create carbonated water. A sample pack of flavored syrups is included to create flavored sodas, or users can try to be creative and mix a variety of fruit juices to the carbonated water for their own creations…

The curtain rises onthe Gloria Logan Auditorium at Salem High School, 46181 Joy Rd., at 7 p.m. Friday; the show repeats at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $10. The big day is here: Visitors to Canton Public Library can help the Detroit Area Diaper Bank reach this year's goal of 200,000 diapers by Thanksgiving.
