Torii Hunter, the Detroit Tigers newest player, took to Twitter on Friday to ask for recommendations on places to stay in the southeastern Michigan area.
On Thursday, free agent outfielder Torii Hunter made news by agreeing to a contract with the Detroit Tigers. Hunter's signing stoked the hot stove for baseball fans in Detroit. And on Friday, Hunter piqued fans' interest even more when he took to Twitter (his account is @toriihunter48) to ask for suggestions on a place to live in the southeastern Michigan area. Do you think Hunter should move to Plymouth or Canton? Our area is away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, yet just a short drive to Comerica Park, and we've already been home to such Detroit athletes as former Tigers pitcher Nate Robertson (Canton) and former Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood (Plymouth). In celebration of the Detroit Tigers playing in the World Series, former Tigers pitcher Jack Morris will make a special appearance at the Dick's Sporting Goods in Novi from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. today. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Morris and get his autograph. A five-time All-Star, Morris played for the Tigers from 1977-1990 and helped them win the World Series in 1984. Dick's is located at 44225 12 Mile Road in Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk in Novi.

The Detroit Tigers 2-0 loss to San Francisco in Thursday's second World Series Game 2 and subsequent 0-3 series deficit may leave hometown fans dejected, but at least they can enjoy free tacos next week. Angel Pagan's stolen base in the eighth inning Thursday triggered Taco Bell's World Series "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" promotion. On Oct. 30, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., customers can pick up a free Doritos Locos Taco at any Taco Bell. Taco Bell stores near Plymouth-Canton include the following: According to a Huffington Post report, the Giants center fielder didn't know about the promotion until after the game. Game 4 of the series will be played Sunday in Detroit, with the first pitch thrown at 8:07 p.m.

Tigers gear flies off store shelves, outsells World Series opponent's wares.
The Detroit Tigers return home this weekend for Game 3 of the World Series down 0-2 against the San Francisco Giants, but the team's merchandise sales continue to ride a hot streak. The Tigers are No. 2 in Major League Baseball in merchandise sales, behind the New York Yankees, whom the Tigers swept in the American League Championship Series, and just ahead of the Giants, according to the Detroit News. The sales give the Tigers an 11 percent market share of MLB merchandise sales, compared with the Yankees' 33 percent and the Giants' 7 percent, the report said. Tigers mania has reached a fever pitch in Metro Detroit as the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants do battle in the World Series. Fans eager to be a part of the live action, however, might have to dip deep into their savings when buying tickets. According to Crain's Detroit Business, the average ticket price for Games 3, 4 and 5 at Comerica Park are about $730. But, Crain's reports, the prices have plummeted in the past week and a half: On ticket reseller StubHub.com, the cheapest tickets during the homestand are $375 for a single standing-room-only spot for Game 3 or Game 5.
