Retailer to close by the end of March.
Isabella’s Copper Pot will close its doors in downtown Plymouth at the end of March, according to the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority. The store, owned by Stacy Shafto and Doug Fopma, has been a fixture on Main Street in downtown Plymouth for about three years. The store will begin a 30 percent off sale, beginning Saturday. Shafto and Fopma will continue to operate their store in Gaylord.
Bakery closes doors in downtown Plymouth.
Downtown Plymouth has another vacancy, with bakery Perfectly Sweet Cakes & Desserts closing its doors as owner Kurt Lienhard goes back into the pharmaceutical industry. The bakery, known for its soft German pretzels, had opened a new location in downtown Plymouth in 2012 alongside Cozy Cafe. It previously shared space with Boule Artisan Bakery. Plymouth Downtown Development Authority releases smartphone app.
Looking for the latest live music, comedy, restaurant specials or Small Business Saturday deals in downtown Plymouth? There's now an app for that. The Plymouth Downtown Development Authority released an app this month serving as a one-stop guide to everything downtown. The smartphone app, downloadable for Apple and Android devices, is a free download, DDA Director Tony Bruscato said. "There's an app for everything, and we thought why not an app for downtown Plymouth?" Bruscato said. "We have 130-plus events each year, a lot of shops and restaurants that do a lot of events and have specials, it seemed like a natural fit in a place like Plymouth." When I needed a metal steamer basket I went there, figuring I'd support local business rather rather than spend money at the big box Bed Bath & Beyond.
