Amidst the flurry of sirens, flashing lights and fire hoses when a fire broke out Monday in a Plymouth Township home, a group of Salvation Army workers were offering their own support as crews battled the blaze. While these workers might not strap on oxygen tanks or enter burning houses, they provide crucial support by keeping first responders warm and hydrated as they exhaustively fought a devastating fire on a frigid, snowy night. Plymouth leaders laud partnership with Northville.
Now one year into its joint fire agreement with the City of Northville, Plymouth city officials are calling the merger an "incredible move." It’s more effective. We have more firefighters to serve our …

Such mutual aid agreements have been around for some time now, and have proven successful. Passage and/or adoption of these should require little, if any, forethought. The advantages are obvious, even to the layman. Excessive time ought not be wasted in the discussion stage. Action should be commenced ASAP.   more ›
