Watch Plymouth Wildcats Blast 3 Home Runs Against South Lyon

Every so often, Plymouth-Canton Patch will feature videos from YouTube about the Plymouth and Canton communities.

There's lots of cool stuff going on in and around Plymouth and Canton. Luckily, some of it is posted on YouTube. Every so often, Plymouth-Canton Patch will highlight a YouTube video posted about the Plymouth or Canton area. This week's pick features the ladies on the Plymouth Wildcats Softball team blasting three home runs out of the park against South Lyon on May 6.  The video shows (in order) Plymouth Sophomore Mikayla Maraniak, Junior Brooke Senkbeil and Senior Bri Giordano wailing away at home plate. Plymouth, Canton, Salem Release 2013 Football Schedules

Wildcats face Chiefs on Oct. 11; Rocks won't play either cross-campus rivals this season.

The Plymouth Wildcats will face the Canton Chiefs on Oct. 11 in this year's edition of the schools' intense cross-campus rivalry, according to the Plymouth-Canton Perspective, PCEP's student newspaper. According to the report, the two teams have met 10 times in the past five seasons—counting several playoff matchups—with Canton holding a 6-4 edge over Plymouth. The Salem Rocks, meanwhile, won't play either of their cross-campus rivals this season, but will face neighboring schools Northville and Livonia Stevenson.  The teams' 2013 schedules are as follows. When is Tonight's Notre Dame-Alabama BCS Championship Game?

We've got your TV and radio listings for the big game, featuring Plymouth Wildcats alum Kyle Brindza.

Tonight, the college football bowl season comes to an end, as Notre Dame and Alabama square off in the Discover BCS National Championship Game.  The Fighting Irish and the Crimson Tide, ranked number 1 and 2 respectively in the BCS poll, kick off at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on ESPN TV with coverage beginning at 8 p.m., and the game also can be heard on WTKA-AM (1050).  Plymouth-Canton football fans might recognize one of the Fighting Irish's special teams players. Kyle Brindza, Notre Dame's kicker, was a standout punter and kicker for the Plymouth Wildcats. Shamrocks Hammer Wildcats in Regional Championship

Detroit Catholic Central eliminates Plymouth, will face Rockford in state semifinals.

With some dominant defense, the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks eliminated the Plymouth Wildcats, 28-7, in its Division 1 regional championship at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, according to MLive.com. Plymouth Edges Livonia Churchill to Claim District Title

Nate Emmenger's late interception clinches district title for Wildcats.

With the game close and their opponent driving in the final minute of play, Plymouth's Nate Emmenger again was in the right place at the right time for the Wildcats. Emmenger, who has forced pivotal turnovers all season, picked off a Livonia Churchill pass from Seth Suda to seal a 20-14 victory and a district title for the Wildcats. The interception halted a productive late-game drive by the Chargers, who needed just a touchdown and extra point to pull off a come-from-behind victory. Plymouth coach Mike Sawchuk said the clutch defensive play was typical for Emmenger. "I saw (the play) but i haven't seen really what happened, but Nate (Emmenger) always seems to be in the right spot at the right time," Sawchuk said. Emmenger's pick was the …

Winter Classic, Hockeytown Winter Festival Canceled Amid NHL Lockout

Festival was set to feature Plymouth Whalers and Plymouth-Canton prep teams to complement Toronto-Detroit Winter Classic in Ann Arbor.

The NHL has canceled the Winter Classic between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs, scheduled to take place Jan. 1 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor before potentially record-breaking crowds, according to the Detroit Free Press. The NHL and its players union have been in a lockout since Sept. 16 amid a dispute over a new collective bargaining agreement, the Free Press reported.  According to the Free Press, the cancellation also will scrub the two-week Hockeytown Winter Festival at a second rink in Detroit's Comerica Park, which was set to feature the Plymouth Whalers as part of an Ontario Hockey League doubleheader, as well as a match between Plymouth and Canton high schools. Plymouth to Face Livonia Churchill in Football Districts

Wildcats to play Livonia Churchill in second round of state football playoffs.

The Plymouth Wildcats will play Livonia Churchill on Friday in the district championship. The Wildcats, fresh off a 40-28 win over cross-campus rival Canton, face Churchill at 7 p.m. Friday at Livonia Churchill, 8900 Newburgh Road in Livonia. For a full Division 1 playoff bracket, click here.
