Looking for Downtown Events? There's an App for That

Plymouth Downtown Development Authority releases smartphone app.

Looking for the latest live music, comedy, restaurant specials or Small Business Saturday deals in downtown Plymouth? There's now an app for that. The Plymouth Downtown Development Authority released an app this month serving as a one-stop guide to everything downtown. The smartphone app, downloadable for Apple and Android devices, is a free download, DDA Director Tony Bruscato said. "There's an app for everything, and we thought why not an app for downtown Plymouth?" Bruscato said. "We have 130-plus events each year, a lot of shops and restaurants that do a lot of events and have specials, it seemed like a natural fit in a place like Plymouth." Plymouth's Liberty Street Brewing Company Now on Tap at Ford Field

Fans of Plymouth's Liberty Street Brewing Company can now get a taste of home when they go to Ford Field in Detroit for Lions home games. According to owner Joe Walters, Liberty Street Brewing Company now has its beer on tap at Ford Field's Michigan Craft House, a new concession area opened in October that exclusively sells beers from Michigan breweries, including Short's, Bell's, New Holland, Founder's and Atwater. Liberty Street Brewing Company's Steamy Windows, a California common ale, is on tap at the stadium, Walters said. Walters said the Michigan Craft House can be found in the vicinity of Section 129, just off the 50-yard line on the main concourse area. "It's really a great place," Walters said. If you have a black belt in Black Friday shopping, listen up: Area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters even earlier this year—starting Thanksgiving Day. Walmart (with locations on Ford Road and Michigan Avenue in Canton), Toys R' Us, Target (with locations on Ford Road and Michigan Avenue in Canton) and Best Buy are planning all-out holiday shopping assaults. Beginning at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, Walmart will offer holiday doorbusters, while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39. Canton Harvest Market Showcases Local Small Businesses

Special Canton Farmers Market Sunday includes a cornucopia of delights for Thanksgiving and beyond.

Locally grown fruits and vegetables and specialty products will be showcased when the Canton Farmers Market returns for a special Harvest Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
