Downtown restaurant among 13 Metro Detroit eateries recommended by critic to visit in 2013.
Fresh off earning its distinction as one of the best new Metro Detroit restaurants from the Detroit Free Press, The Sardine Room in Plymouth has added another honor. The Detroit News listed The Sardine Room atop its list of 13 places one must visit in 2013 to expand his or her dining horizons. Molly Abraham from the Detroit News lauded the restaurant's extensive, creative menu. The Sardine Room offers a more unconventional type of fine dining.
The Sardine Room has been chosen as one of the top 10 best new metro Detroit restaurants for 2012 by the Detroit Free Press. The Free Press said the restaurant might be the best-all-around new restaurant of the year. The restaurant, which opened in downtown Plymouth in May, gives dining out a new meaning to its patrons. "It's kind of a break from the traditional order," said co-owner Frankie Yaquinto. The Sardine Room offers shareable snack and small plates and a raw bar, which is where raw oysters and other seafood are served. The restaurant on South Main Street across from Kellogg Park shares a facility and ownership—the Yaquinto family—with Compari's on the Park and Fiamma Grille. There are 10 restaurants participating in Downtown Plymouth's 10-day Restaurant Week.
Plymouth Restaurant Week is a chance for people to experience the tastes of Downtown Plymouth. It's a 10-day event from Sept. 28 to Oct.7 when participating restaurants will feature three, four, or five-course meals at discounted prices. The Sardine Room, open for five months, is one of the restaurants participating and will be serving three-course meals for $25.
