Visions for Vacancies: Isabella's Copper Pot is slated to close at the end of March.
Downtown Plymouth will see one of its coveted downtown storefronts open up this year when kitchen goods shop Isabella's Copper Pot closes its doors after three years in business along South Main Street. Facing Kellogg Park in the area of town that sees the most foot traffic, the vacancy might not last for long. Situated alongside old standbys such as Wiltse's Pharmacy and downtown's popular eateries, Isbella's pending vacancy will offer prime downtown real estate. Bakery closes doors in downtown Plymouth.
Downtown Plymouth has another vacancy, with bakery Perfectly Sweet Cakes & Desserts closing its doors as owner Kurt Lienhard goes back into the pharmaceutical industry. The bakery, known for its soft German pretzels, had opened a new location in downtown Plymouth in 2012 alongside Cozy Cafe. It previously shared space with Boule Artisan Bakery. Visions for Vacancies: Central Middle School faces closure as part of a May 7 bond proposal.
Plymouth's historic Central Middle School could cease to exist as an educational facility if voters support a May 7 bond measure. Already, there has been chatter about what should happen to the school building if the bond passes and the building closes. Visions for Vacancies: Bar will close on Feb. 1 under agreement with City of Plymouth; What type of bar and restaurant would you like to see in its place?
The Rock Bar & Grill will close Feb. 1 as part of an agreement with the City of Plymouth after numerous liquor-related violations. The business now is for sale, as owner Kevin Mantanago seeks a buyer for the building, along with a transfer of its coveted liquor license. Needless to say, the new occupant of the former Rock Bar & Grill space will be another bar and restaurant. What characteristics would you like to see in a potential buyer? This past year, Plymouth and Canton saw plenty of new businesses pop up, including the popular Sardine Room, Panache 447, Jay's Stuffed Burgers and Greek Islands eateries in downtown Plymouth, Penn Station in Plymouth Township and Village Coffeehouse in Canton's Cherry Hill Village. Fun-seeking patrons also enjoyed the new Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in Canton, which opened in July. In 2013, a new Busch's grocery is slated to open in Canton, and plenty of local buildings still sit vacant, awaiting new tenants. Visions for Vacancies: Building along Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth Township sits empty.
Amidst a cluster of vacant plaza storefronts on Ann Arbor Road between Haggerty and Lilley sits an empty building alongside the plaza housing Grand Traverse Pie Company.
