With the recent school board elections over, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools board of education trustee Steven Sneideman is looking forward to another race — that of the swim teams' at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park. Teams respresenting Plymouth, Canton and Salem head to state finals this weekend at Eastern Michigan University and Sneideman is cheering them on. The proud dad of seniors Maggie and Emily has followed the teams closely this year because Maggie is a swimmer. Though Maggie missed the state cut by a single second, he said, he's very proud of her and hopes for the best for the teams this weekend. P-CEP Park Players are staging Ken Ludwig's "The Fox on the Fairway" at 7 p.m. today and tomorrow at the DuBois Little Theater in Canton High School, 8415 N. Canton Center Rd. Producers describe the play as "a charmingly madcap adventure about love, life, and man's eternal love affair with … golf." The curtain rises on all shows at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased outside the DuBois Little Theatre from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Chiefs' Griffin Parks scores game's lone goal for shutout win over Warren DeLaSalle.
The wins continue for Canton Chiefs. The Canton High boys soccer team beat Warren De La Salle 1-0 in a state semifinal at Farmington High Wednesday night. Sophomore Griffin Parks scored the lone goal, with an assist from sophomore Ken Krolicki. Senior goalkeeper Steven Murphy picked up the shutout while handing DeLaSalle its first loss of the season. ESPN's Fab 50 Poll had ranked De La Salle (14-1 overall) No. 15 in the country and Canton (23-1-2 overall) No. 20. The Chiefs now face Grand Haven (18-1-3 overall) for the Division 1 State Championship scheduled for Saturday, but time and place of the final game won't be announced until sometime Thursday. The Suburban Collection Showplace (formally Rock Financial) in Novi was inundated Friday night with about 1,000 teens headed to the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools' senior prom. Students adorned in colorful dresses and handsome tuxes started to appear around 6:45 p.m. Some arrived fashionably late for the 7 p.m. start time. They came in stretch limos, buses, and in at least one case, a bright red trolley-decorated shuttle. Do you have a great photo from Friday's Plymouth-Canton prom? Canton Police arrested the man when he arrived at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park after being told to stay home Thursday.
The teacher arrested Thursday at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park will be arraigned at noon in 34th District Court in Romulus, according to a statement released by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office on Friday afternoon. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has not indicated what charges the 52-year-old man would face. His name is being withheld pending the announcement of formal charges. Police and school officials have said the man was taken into custody without incident after comments he made to another district employee were reported to school administrators. An undisclosed type of gun was recovered at the time as well. The arrest took place one day after the man's comments were reported and school officials had asked him to stay home…

I have to wonder why the Administrators or other faculty didn't know or see what this man was feeling. He had to be very upset to do something so "out of left field". From students comments, he is an excellent teacher, so something or someone upset him. We really need to pay attention to those around us, just as we need to watch for changes in our children.
