It's Rouge River Day and the grand reopening of the I275 bike trails.

One: If the weather cooperates, you should see lot of activity going on along the Rouge River — the 25th Annual Rouge River Cleanup, for one thing. Today is also the I275 Metro grand trail opening  and Canton resident Gary Anderson, michiganmountainbike.org,  will be among the volunteers leading cyclists along about six miles of bike and hiking trails he helped build on the Lower Rouge Recreational Trail. No bike? No worries: Anderson said a limited number of loaner bikes — and required helmets — will be available organized ride at the recreational trail. Lower Rouge Recreational Trail Draws Walkers

The first time the sun came out over Canton, some folks headed to their favorite spot: Lower Rouge Recreational Trail.

The Lower Rouge Recreation Trail is a joint project by Canton Township, Wayne County, and the Michigan Department of Transportation. When completed, it will link walking trails ranging from Canton Center Road to Hannan Road. Take a peek at what the Lower Rouge trail looks like this spring. This is a great trail and I ride it as often as I can. It has added a great recreational piece to our community and once the tie in is made with Flodin Park it will be even nicer. Not aware of any other community that has something this nice and used so often by many.   more ›
