ReplyIf she'd had a gun and was trained how to use it, the headline would read, "Would be kidnapper shot dead by intended victim." End of story, no trial, no cost to the taxpayer.

Matty, you're right and that's something I hadn't thought of. The president did say he thought marriage should be between a man and a woman. Where was Ms. Pelosi then? Or Rahm Emmanuel? Or any of the other people who went ballistic over the CEO's comments.

ReplyI think that it's okay for people to vote with their wallets, and that's been happening. However, when governments get involved and start to deny permits or zoning due to an owner's personal political beliefs, then it becomes Stalinism. The fact of the matter is that the CEO of Chick-fil-A holds the belief that marriage should be defined as being between a man and a woman. His company, however, does not discriminate based on any criteria whatsoever, including sexual orientation. We can not stand by, no matter what your feeling on this issue, and let government decide what is and what is not acceptable "free" speech.

ReplyI have a question. What holds the segments together? There are "teeth" on the sections, but I can't believe that's what holds up all that weight. Yet while they were building it I saw no bolts or anything else tightening them up.

ReplyParents need to be involved and asking their kids where they are going and with whom. I mean, if you read this article it's incredible. Hundreds of kids involved, drunken brawling, and this has happened before? Why haven't parents cracked down and set limits on their kids? That's what my parents did, along with their friends, when things started to get out of hand. We just couldn't go anywhere for a while without a parent or older sibling. Once we'd gotten the message we were given some freedom back. These kids are just running wild. Where are the parents?

ReplyI'm currently vacationing in your beautiful state and while reading today's news came across this and thought I'd weigh in. You know, president Obama now has a plan to fix the economy. He'll announce it in September (after his vacation), but he's already telling Republicans they must compromise. We've heard this before. The president was going to focus like a laser beam, he wasn't going to rest until the job problem was fixed, he was going to pivot to jobs. It's all rhetoric, and as usual, he'll get to it when he gets done having fun. I got tired of watching what was going on in Washington and decided two months ago to launch my own candidacy for president. I'm just a regular citizen who's fed up and had enough. I know I'm unknown, but that is rapidly changing--the campaign site passed 140,000 hits yesterday. At any rate, I've written on how to eliminate the deficit, and why that is crucial, how to get the economy going again, and many other problems facing America. Check it out, and if you like what you see, spread the word. "Like" us on Facebook. www.gradyforpresident.com.

ReplyI vote we build a sky-car system like in Disneyland. You know, on cables, elevated, not subject to the whims of traffic. Build hubs in the neighborhoods and have it terminate at a Metro station in Tysons. Hey, if Disney can do it, why can't we?

On the article Moms Chat: Disciplinary Process Needs Reform

ReplyThere is a reason for a zero tolerance policy. Despite what Jack Dale says, there is a zero tolerance policy for certain offenses. Bring a gun to school. Assault someone with a knife. Deal drugs on school grounds. You're out, period. Other offenses, such as fighting, stealing, bullying, drug use, etc., may or may not result in automatic expulsion. It depends on how egregious the situation. Administrators make those types of decisions. That's why they're administrators. I realize how grevious it is that these young men committed suicide, but thousands of other youths have been disciplined within the system without resorting to this drastic action. There had to be something else there which was bothering them deeply. Getting suspended was only the trigger. If not that, something else would have been. Take the teeth out of the disciplinary structure in the schools and you will make the schools less safe, and the "good" kids will be in more danger. If you remove this "stick", for lack of a better word, before long the schools which year after year turn out those "professionals" Coach Yoast refers to will turn into the same type of dangerous, criminal fostering, drug dealing types of schools you find in places like Washington, D.C., Detroit, and every other inner city in America. You must maintain order and there must be consequences or there will be no order and increased danger. I feel for the young men, but their problems ran deeper than being suspended.
