Canton Farmers Market Returns for Pre-Thanksgiving Harvest Market

Sunday market-goers will enjoy local, harvest-fresh food on their Thanksgiving tables.

The Canton Farmers Market will return for a special Harvest Market on Sunday, Nov. 24 to ensure that market-goers can enjoy local, harvest-fresh food on their Thanksgiving tables.

A variety of locally produced items will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, in and around the historic Cady-BoyerBarn, located in Preservation Park at 500 N. Ridge Road.

This special Market will feature an assortment of Michigan-harvested produce in addition to specialty products made by local vendors, who will be onsite both indoors and outside. Pick up items for your Thanksgiving meal along with all your Market favorites including: farm eggs, honey, sauerkraut, popcorn for popping, artisan cheese, sour cream coffee cakes & muffins with cinnamon & pecans, gluten free baking mixes, baked goods (including gluten-free, vegan and sugar-free), jam, fudge, cinnamon honey baked almonds & pecans, granola, kettle corn, blended teas, apples, cider, apple butter, fudge, barbecue and pasta sauces, mustards, salad dressings, marinades, artisan cheese & bread, hormone and 
anti-biotic free meats, turkeys and more.

Local produce may also include: winter squash, brussel sprouts, pie pumpkins, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, radishes, collard greens, onions, kale, mixed greens, sweet potatoes, beets, sunchoke, rutabaga, arugula and more.

Advanced orders are also currently being accepted for free-range, antibiotic and hormone free turkey orders for pick up at the Nov. 24 Harvest Market.  Market vendor Garry Kuneman of Pure Pastures is accepting pre-orders at 734/927-6951 or email purepasturesmi@gmail.com. Turkeys will range from 12-25 pounds at $3.49 per pound.

Chef Paul Penney will be on site cooking with seasonal produce at the Market from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. While at the Market, be sure to pick up lunch from The Rolling Stoves, new on the food truck scene offering tasty wraps, including: BBQ chicken wraps; veggie wraps; bit wraps and chipotle chicken wraps.

With the holidays right around the corner, it's the ideal time to pick up some unique craft items that will make the perfect gift. Hand-crafted soaps from Cellar Door Soap Co and Farmington Soapworks along with soy candles from JKM Soy Candles will also be available and will make a great host/hostess gift, as well as fun stocking-stuffers for the kids.
