Gift of Life, Michigan Organ and Tissue Donor Registry

Canton Public Library Joins a Statewide Initiative to Save Lives

The Canton Public Library is partnering with Michigan’s organ and tissue donation program, Gift of Life, to host a Michigan Libraries for Life registration. In doing so, CPL hopes to educate, inspire, and empower our patrons to join Michigan’s organ and tissue donor registry and save lives. CPL will hold a registration to join Michigan’s organ and tissue donor list on Tuesday, October 8th, 10:00 AM-8:30 PM. Library staff will be available to answer questions, provide fun give-away items and, most importantly, help community members become organ, eye, and tissue donors.

There are currently about 3,000 Michigan residents waiting for an organ transplant. It only takes one organ to save up to eight lives and each tissue donor can improve the lives of 50 more. Be sure to stop in and register. If you are not able to stop by during the scheduled times of sign up, you can register online at www.GiftofLifeMichigan.org, on the Secretary of State website www.ExpressSOS.com, or by calling 800.482.4881.
