Body of Missing Canton Man Found in Westland

Matthew Morris has been missing since January.

The body of missing Canton Township resident Matthew Morris has been found in Westland.

Morris, 36, went missing in January, prompting his friends to begin a desperate search.

Shortly after his disappearance, Morris' car was found parked with a flat tire at Emagine Canton, but his cell phone and medications remained at his apartment across the street at Ford and Lotz roads.

On Monday, a survey crew found Morris' body in a marshy area off Ford Road in Westland, not far from where his car was found, according to WDIV-Channel 4.

According to WDIV, the ID found on the body and the physical description match that of Morris, and police do not suspect foul play.

Autopsy and toxicology results are pending, according to the Observer & Eccentric.

Morris' friend told the Observe & Eccentric that those who knew Morris are saddened by the discovery.

"He was a good friend who is really going to be missed," Brungardt said. "But we're relieved that we now know where he went."
