Livonia Man Arrested on Charges of Indecent Exposure at Plymouth High School

Police: A security guard reported a nude man walking around the Plymouth High School parking lot.

A 59-year-old Livonia man was arrested on charges of indecent exposure on May 29 around 12:15 a.m. after Canton Police responded to a call of a nude man walking around the Plymouth High School parking lot, according to a police report.

A security guard reported seeing the man, completely naked, get into his car and leave eastbound on Joy Road. Police located the man on Joy Road, west of Canton Center, and performed a traffic stop, according to the report.

The man, still naked in his car with a pair of red shorts draped over his lap to cover his genitals, told police that he was "going for a joy ride."

The man told police police that he has Irritable Bowel Syndrome and that he had just left Taco Bell when he had to go to the bathroom. He said he drove to the school because he thought it would be private and took his clothes off so he did not mess himself, according to the report.

The security guard told police that he found the man in the parking lot, walking away from the school, not near any trees or wooded area that would have offered cover to use the bathroom. Nothing suspicious was found in the area, the report said.

Police contacted the man for the second time at his home in Livonia on May 30 after watching the security video from the school. The video showed the man touching himself while sitting on a bench outside the gym entrance, then walking around the property for about 30 to 40 minutes until the security guard arrives, the report said.

The man, who had no prior arrests, told police that he is a nudist looking for a nudist camp and has issues with voyeurism and feels the need to be nude in the summer when the weather is hot, the report said.

According to the report, the man admitted to visiting the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park and undressing three times last summer, but told police that this was his first time there this year.

When police questioned the man, he said that he did not visit any other locations, and that there was nothing special associated with the school, except for the secluded nature of the location, the report said.

The man was issued a trespass notice signed by the Plymouth High School principal. Due to the man living so close to Livonia Churchill High School, Canton Police notified the School Resource Officer of the situation, the report said.
