Woman Arrested on Concealed Weapon and Drug Paraphernalia Charges in Canton

Police said the 23-year-old woman was carrying a gun in her car that belonged to a friend who left it there.

A 23-year-old Sterling Heights woman was arrested on concealed weapon and drug paraphernalia charges after police conducted a traffic stop on Oct. 3, according to a police report.

Police saw the vehicle with only one working headlight at I-275 and Ford Road, the report said. 

During the stop, police smelled marijuana coming from the car and saw residue on the driver's side floorboard, the report said.

The woman told police there was no marijuana inside the car and gave her permission for a search. Once out of the car, she told police she had a gun in the car as well as a stun gun, and that they belonged to her friend who had left them in the car, the report said.

The woman also admitted that there was a grinder with marijuana residue inside her purse, the report said.

During the search, police found a black Glock 26 9mm pistol lying on the floorboard, not hidden under the seat. They immediately secured and unloaded the weapon, the report said.

In addition, they also found a black soft case that held a stun gun that looked like a cell phone and the grinder with residue inside the woman's purse, the report said.

Police searched the serial number of the gun, which came back registered to the name of the friend the woman said left the weapons in the car, according to the report.
