Kentucky Man Celebrates 11th Year at Plymouth Art in the Park

Dave Thompson comes to Plymouth every year from his home in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dave Thompson has been traveling more than 350 miles every summer from his home in Louisville, KY to attend Plymouth's Art in the Park for the past 11 years.

The things that keep him coming back each year are the people and the sales he makes over the three-day weekend.

Thompson creates animal sculptures out of scrap metal he buys from manufacturers.

Thompson said he can just look at a bunch of parts and see the animal it could be.

According to Thompson, each piece is different, but the larger sculptures can take about an hour and a half to finish.

Thompson said birds are definitely his favorite animal to make, but dogs happen to be the most popular seller.

Thompson will be at Art in the Park through Sunday when the festival ends at 5 p.m. Locate his booth, numbers 425 and 426, on Forest Avenue.
