A proud graduate of Michigan State University and Michigan State University College of Law, I pass the day at a small (two attorney) law firm in Plymouth. While litigation can be stressful, I'm blessed to work for and with outstanding people. The best part of my job is that much of what I do keeps me mentally stimulated. Working a mile away from home for a brilliant, cool boss doesn't hurt, either.

Although I mentioned my career first, I actually see myself as a husband, father and lawyer, in that order. God blessed me by pairing me with my best friend. My wife is the love of my life. My 10 year old daughter is...well...there really aren't enough positive adjectives to fairly describe her. She delights my soul.

I'm a life-long Christian, and recent convert to Calvinism. Faith is important to me and theology is one of my intellectual passions. I try to read as much classic Christian thought as I can consume.

I bristle at the thought of calling myself a "blogger." "Blogging" seems like a fake verb. Much of what I want or need to get off my chest, I do online through 3 blogs. I'm most pleased to have blogs about two things very interesting to me: music and my hometown. A fair number of pieces I've written over the few years have been personally rewarding, whether or not they've been read by others.

In addition to blogging, I (sometimes) spend far too much time on Facebook. I occasionally pick up my bass -- not enough! Recently, I've moved toward teaching adult Sunday School classes and leading discussion groups. I also like to write about and discuss (in online forums) various theological topics

When it comes to music, I'm a rock and roll fan and Beatles maniac. I caught the Beatles bug when I was five and saw a picture of them on the cover of a TV Guide. The other groups I love are too numerous to here list.

Beyond all that, I'm something of a history buff and traditionalist in so many ways. I think the Beach Boys' song, "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" seems to describe how I sometimes feel living in this new century. I could listen to bagpipes any time of day and there are few things I enjoy more than a nice glass of Irish whiskey or Scotch.

I'm a 12th generation Yankee; English, Irish and Scottish mix. Next to my faith, my heritage and the cultures of those great peoples from whom I am descended are most intriguing to me.
