Robert Louis Messer, 37, of Northville — who pleaded not guilty to multiple sex crimes last week — is scheduled to be at 35th District Court 8:30 a.m. Friday for a preliminary examination before Judge Michael Gerou.
Messer was charged in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Plymouth Township teen, Emily Lalinsky. The pair ran away together on Oct. 24, leaving behind notes expressing their love for one another, according to police.
Police found the pair in Washtenaw County on Tuesday in a field near Seven Mile and Chubb Road in Salem Township.
Officials say that Messer had sexual contact with the girl at locations in Wayne and Washtenaw County.
Messer faces charges of one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree, three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree and one count of Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes.
A preliminary examination is meant to establish whether there is probable cause to believe that a felony was committed and that the defendant committed it. If probable cause is established, the case is bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings.
